All the rotation rates are deliberately unbalanced so that it favours a particular style of manoeuvring and also so it harkens back to the original game. It makes flying far more exciting in our collective opinion at frontier. We definitely didn't want to make the equivalent of a first person shooter in space and I think we've done the right thing by taking some control away from the player in this regard where so many others just blindly set up their game without these considerations. We were very close to removing the ability to yaw altogether so I would count yourself lucky in that regard
