We have received word from several sources on what the problem is with the Global List Server the last week. The server was taken down by Microsoft because someone was attempting to exploit the GLS software to hack into one of their mainframe computers. Why people insist on this foolishness is beyond me but according to our source Microsoft should have the problem fixed within a week and we'll be back in business.
On a related note, we have also heard that Microsoft plans to honor the lifecycle support plan for Freelancer, so the Global List Server will remain online until April 8, 2008, when their support official ends. This is good news for all because it gives us more time to prepare for it, and by then The Lancer's Reactor will be back in full force and better than ever. As we have mentioned on IRC several times we are looking into alternatives for when the GLS goes offline. We will keep you posted on our progress in that area.
A final note: the new TLR website is currently under construction, but in the meantime I will be sending out an email soon to all the server owners and administrators that have signed up to the mailing list. This email will include the new plan for The Lancer's Reactor. Once that is sent out they will share that information with their respective communities. The light is at the end of the tunnel folks! Don't blink or you will miss it!
