The History of The Argon

The Argon race is nothing more and nothing less than descendants of early Earth settlers from the days before the Terraformer/Xenon wars – from before the only jumpgate the lead back to Earth was destroyed. After it became more and more clear, that no return to Earth will be possible, ever, the government of the exiled humans agreed to purge Earth from the immediate history books to start with a new era. Some people were unhappy with this decision, but their complaints were forgotten over the emerging TF/Xenon problem and the centuries to come.
Many years later, a large planet, about 12 jumps away from Taurus was discovered. It seemed ideal for human settlement. Many colonists went there. The sun of this system was called „Sonra" and the planet dubbed Sonra-4, commonly referred to as „Four". Later, the name of this planet was changed to "R. Gunne", written as "Argon", in honour of Nathan R. Gunne. The sun’s name, however, remained "Sonra" to the present day.
The Argon colonies grouped themselves into "The United Planetary Federation", later called "The Argon Federal Government", which was controlled from Argon Prime. Over the next few years this federation grew until in the year 130 the Argon race came into contact with another alien species, The Paranid. The two races began to trade with each other and relations were kept peaceful.
Around the year 160, reports began to emerge of unidentified spaceships appearing on the outer edges of the Argon Federation. These reports increased until the year 210 when these unidentified ships began attacking and destroying Argon ships.
In 214 an Argon ship survived an attack and the survivors reported the first positive sightings of their attackers, a race who became known as the Xenon.
Between 214 and 225 these skirmishes escalated, cumulating in the Xenon attacking and destroying "The Antigone", a major Argon space station killing thousands. In retaliation for this attack the Argon had no choice but to declare war on the Xenon. This war became known as the Xenon Conflict.
The Argon Federation looked to their allies the Paranid for help but, after much debate and discussion, in 230 the Emperor of the Paranid finally refused to join the war, and relationships between the two races deteriorated.
Between the years 230 and 255 the Xenon increased their attacks and the Argon Federation lost battle after battle. Many space stations and colonies were lost and the Xenon took over more and more Argon territory. However the tide turned around the year 255 when the Argon space fleet enjoyed a number of spectacular and daring victories. Slowly, sector-by-sector, they forced the Xenon back to their own frontiers, and regained lost Argon territories.
By 290 the Argon’s had succeeded in forcing the Xenon Fleet from all Argon Federation Territories and the attackers finally retreated back into deep space, wherever they had come from.
1n 300 an Argon Deep Space Fleet was dispatched in an attempt to discover the Xenon home territories. In the year 323 whilst searching unknown deep space sectors their exploration fleet came across a race called the Boron.
Once contact was established the Kingdom of Boron made a desperate plea to the Argon for help in assisting them in their on-going war with a race called the Split.
Whilst awaiting a decision from the home planet, a smaller fleet of Split warships attacked the Argon fleet; among them were some space ships of the Paranid race. The decision was made immediately, and once again the Argon were involved in a major war, one that came to be known as the Boron Campaign.
This alliance with the Argon came just in time for the Borons as, by 324, the attacking Split had forced them back almost to their home planet.
The Argon dispatched a powerful fleet to the Borons aid and in 336, together they managed to defeat a huge attacking fleet of Paranid and Split in a battle fought in the skies over the Borons home planet.
The Boron Campaign continued until for another twenty-five years in which the Argon and the Borons slowly forced the Split and the Paranid further back and the Kingdom of Boron slowly regained its lost territories.
Eventually Split and their allies the Paranid were forced to concede and the war formally ended in 350. As a result of this peace treaty the Argon and the Boron formed a permanent alliance called the "Foundation Guild". This guild is not only establishes permanent trading links, but controlled and policed them. The Argon Mark was chosen as its currency.
The Split and the Paranid then fell out among themselves and continued to battle each other until they too reached an agreement. Both races could see the advantages of alliance and, to counter the growing power of the "Foundation Guild", they formed themselves into a similar agreement which they called "The Profit Guild".
An uneasy peace reigned for the next hundred years during which all races worked hard at regaining their lost economies and re-building and re establishing their territories and space stations
In 550 a new race, the Teladi, entered the space lanes and, despite deputation’s being made from the Foundation Guild, began trading with the Profit Guild, Great suspicion was put on this action by both the Argon and the Boron, but the main reason why the Teladi refused to join the foundation Guild was that it refused to enter into the Argon Mark currency, instead insisting on using its own native Teladi Buckzoid currency. However despite this deep suspicion, to date no conflict has ever occurred between the Teladi and the members of the Foundation Guild.
In 589 a great step forward is made when members of both the Foundation Guild and the Profit Guild agree upon using a common currency called Credits. From this date onwards the X Universe operated on the Credit system of currency.
This event, known as The Great Currency Reform, to date has been the only occasion where five races of the X Universe have ever come to a joint agreement over anything.

ARGON TODAY

Today the Argon Federation is wealthy and encompasses a large number of very different types of planets. Some are hot deserts, some are ice wastes. The planet Argon Prime is heart of the Federation and is the residence of the government and all administration. It is also one of the most exciting planets in the X Universe. As well as being the home of culture, science and learning, it is also home to the finest entertainments. As well as housing the finest geodesic holiday homes it also has thousands of bars, restaurants, theaters, casinos, hologramic cinemas, holiday villas, everything in fact that makes it the finest rest and recreation center in any known universe.
The Argon Federation is governed by an elected parliament, with each city colony and space station represented by senators elected by their own people. The leader of the Argon Parliament is called President. Currently this position is held by a male Argon called Frann Herron.

The Argon Race

They are a tough hardy race, as befits a race that has colonized so many different planets. Settlers and colonists tend to be a bit unfriendly and wary of strangers, and are very tough and independent. However the Argons who live on the home planet Argon Prime like to think that they are more refined and act in a more civilized and polite manner.
The Argon are not an aggressive race. Despite it happening almost eight hundred years in the past, the memory of their disastrous civil war is still strong in their memories. However their involvement in both the Xenon Conflict and the Boron Campaign taught them how to fight, and fight hard.
Argon involvement in the two great X Universe Wars pushed their weapons technology and development far ahead of other races. They have developed a wide range of defensive shields, weaponry and space ship technology so that their pilots and space fleet are the most developed and finest armed in the entire Community of Planets.

The History of the Boron

Planet Boron is a vast distance from Argon Prime, with a very different atmosphere and planetary conditions. Its surface is covered with deadly chemical swamps and the atmosphere is based upon an ammonia compound that, to any Humanoid, would mean instant death. The planet also has a great many huge oceans in which the Boron race evolved and lives up to the present day.
In their planetary society, based upon the Borons natural intelligence and wisdom, there was no war, and as a result the Borons never developed or manufactured weapons. However their technology was very refined and their designs held a great aesthetic quality.
The Boron were late comers in the development of space flight, their first major colonization project, which was on one of the nearby Boron moons, didn't begin until the Argon year of 50. However such was their understanding of technology and proficiency in engineering that their space ships were slim, fast and very advanced. By the year 225 the Kingdom of Boron stretched far beyond their own solar system with colonies established on many deep space planets.
Then the Boron came into contact with the Split who quickly took advantage of meeting a peaceful unarmed race, and attacked the Boron whenever they met. The Boron quickly realised that soon the Split would not content themselves with just attacking their space traffic; soon they would attack their planet colonies. They realised that they had to develop both weapons and defensive systems very quickly. On Planet Boron the greatest minds and greatest engineers struggled with the concept of weapons development meanwhile, out in space, the colonies of the Kingdom of Boron held their breath.
It didn't take the Split long before they were tempted into full-scale attacks on the territories owned by The Kingdom of Boron, especially as they also were receiving help from their allies the Paranid. In the ensuing battles the new, untried weapons, proved only partially effective and the Boron were soon beating a retreat back to their own solar system.
By the year 299 the Split had chased The Boron back to their home planet and their Kingdom lay in ruins. What the Split hadn't destroyed they had taken over. They amassed a large force and were just about to launch a major attack on Planet Boron when they were suddenly attacked by a ships from a race they had never encountered before - The Argon.
The Boron had secretly been in contact with The Argon since 323, and for the next few years the two races had been forging the foundations of an alliance that would establish trade links that were the beginnings of the "Foundation Guild".
The entry of Argon into the Boron Conflict in 350 saved the Boron race from extermination. The combined Argon and Boron Fleet destroyed the attackers and pushed the enemy alliance back.
Applying advanced technology supplied by The Argon, Boron scientists soon developed highly sophisticated weaponry, and fighting side by side, the two allies forced The Split and The Paranid back into space, regaining many territories belonging to the Kingdom of Boron. This concerted effort resulted in a declaration of peace in 400.
Under the terms of this treaty some Kingdom territory was yielded to the Split, and the next hundred or so years saw the Boron race re-develop and restructure the remains of their Kingdom. Planet by planet, colony by colony they re-established themselves, but now their ships flew the space lanes fully armed with the latest weapon and defense technologies.
The Borons greatly benefited from the Big Currency Reform of 589, which gave a major boost the their shattered economy.

The Borons Today

Throughout the Community of Planets the Borons are famous for their wisdom, wealth and for the sophistication of their space ships. These ships are a shimmering green colour with powerful engines that show a white light and are among the fastest and most maneuverable ships in the universe. They are also armed with very sophisticated weapons and defensive shields and, with the exception of the Argon, are the best spacecraft in the universe.
Despite being members of the Foundation Guild and holding a strong alliance with the Argon, because of their peaceful nature the Boron are friends to all races in the X Universe. They currently hold trading agreements with the both the Teladi and the Paranid, however they are still very wary of the Split and relationships between the two races are very strained.
The Boron have no direct contact with the Xenon, however, as allies of the Argon, they are very much aware of them and of the dangers they present.
Despite being called the Kingdom of Boron the Boron race are actually ruled by an elected government. They do however have a royal family who act as figureheads of the Kingdom State. The current head of this Royal Family is Queen Atreus. Her husband, King Rolk, was killed in an space cruiser when it crash landed on a nearby space station, leaving her daughter, the Lar Menelaus, as the heir apparent.

The Boron Race

Boron live in water. They have six main limbs, of which four are stronger built then the others. Additionally, they have a varying number of very small tentacles. They have snouts and those big eyes on stalks like.
There is a third, relatively rare gender to the Boron, which is called Lar. The Lar are mostly extremely intelligent and are in many important positions within the parliament and the royal family. Lars never have the short, playful names "normal" Borons like. They tend to use beautiful names of honour, sometimes adopted from other species. Lar are addressed as female, although humans can't distinguish Boron of different gender anyway.
Boron use environment suits if they are outside their element. These environment suits are made of white translucent and flexible polymer material. The suits have extensions only for the four main limbs. But you can see the other two limbs and the small tentacles as they press from inside the suit, since it's not completely opaque. On top of the suit is a round see through "globe" (like glass ?but made of a durable plastic) where their head is. While inside their suits, they do not 'walk' (they're much too weak for that, since they're used to float under water). The suits are equipped with an anti-g device that makes them float everywhere, but they try not to float too obviously, as not to irritate others.
When floating in the same water, Boron's can 'taste' RNA molecules from other Borons and so get a (hazy) concept of what's on the other Boron's mind (does not work with other species). The Boron RNA stays in the water for a long time.
Boron turn their stalks inwards towards each other when they are amused. Their way of smiling.
They have an ability with their four main tentacles to snap small bones together thereby creating an appendage (arm, leg) with small grips (very small thin fingers). This gives them the ability to lift or move things around more easily. Adults can do this selectively (just one tentacle for example) while younger "children" can only perform all at once. They get the selective ability as they mature.
They are just over a meter in length with the largest males reaching about 1.3 meters.
They are technically very advanced and this is partly due to the fact that they were "helped" along by a number of ships that landed on their home planet fifty thousand years ago. These "Helpers" all left the planet when the Boron built weapons of mass destruction. Something they had to do to fend off the Split. The helpers origin and whereabouts is unknown, but it is thought that they were messengers from the old ones.
They have a "jet" like propulsion system that resides in the bottom of their torso. They suck water in through their snouts and pass it into their "gills" to extract oxygen. The water is then pushed out through this "hole" and this creates the jet like behavior. This gives them the ability to move around very quickly in water.
They take food through the snout (mainly plankton type organisms or small *fish*) and their suits have devices to allow the items to be introduced into their "mini" water environment. Although in their native water they would glide to eat plankton or actively hunt for small fish.
They dislike most drug inducing products but it has been known for them to introduce spaceweed derivatives into their environment suits.
The Borons tend to talk in very longwinded, awkward sentences that are full of repetitions. Also, they love strange sounding metaphors. They can, however, talk very to-the-point when in danger for their live.

The History of The Paranid

Alongside the Argon, the Paranid are one of the oldest races in the X Universe. Their home planet is situated near to a white star, which means that their natural environment is hot and very arid. Great deserts and mountain ranges straddle the planet. The Paranid themselves evolved from a large species of ancient desert beetles, some of which still scuttle around the desert planet.
The earliest ancestors of the Paranid lived in deep, cool caves hollowed out of the mountain sides, and held strange religious beliefs that involved complicated mystical rites and ceremonies, all based on mathematics and geometry. The number Three is playing a paramount role in Paranid mathematics and mythology. As the race developed, they hollowed deeper and deeper into the mountains, until they had built themselves large complex underground colonies.
Over the years the Paranid, in conjunction with their mystical and mathematical beliefs, developed their own brand of technology, and by the year 50 had made their first ventures into space.
They began to colonize other hot planets in their own solar system and soon built up a large number of colonies. In 130 they made contact with the Argon race. From their first meeting the Argon were always deeply suspicious of the Paranid, and never understood their strange religious rituals and rites. In turn the Paranids could never really understand the culture of the Argons hence relationships between the two races were never friendly, however for many years, the two races managed to trade and tolerate each other.
When the Argons were attacked by the Xenon they turned to the Paranid for help, but after 25 years of deliberation the Pontifex Maximus Paranidia (Emperor of Paranid) refused to join in the conflict. What the Argon never realised was that the Paranid were in an awkward position. Some years before, in 200, they had come into contact with the Split with whom they had fought a short but costly war. Eventually the two sides agreed to a cease fire which led to the formation of trade agreements and military alliances. It was these alliances that prevented the Paranid from coming to the assistance of the Argon in 250, and also tied the Paranid to assisting the Split fight their war against the Kingdom of Boron in 299.
After their victory in the Xenon conflict in 255 the Argon were very bitter towards the Paranid and relationships between the two races sank to an all time low and, as soon as the Argon realised that the Paranid were fighting the Boron, they joined in the conflict. The entrance of the Argon in the Boron Campaign turned the tide and the Split Paranid alliance began to retreat.
Their eventual defeat in the Boron Campaign proved very costly to the Paranid, and for many years they retreated back into their own territories and rebuilt their depleted space fleet. When the Argon and the Boron formed the Foundation Guild the Paranid once again allied themselves to the Split and, in the year 413, the two races officially formed the "Profit Guild".
This alliance led to further threats of war some years later when the Split declared war on the Xenon. After a few initial skirmishes the Paranid refused to enter into any further conflict. For them this war, being fought at the opposite side of the Community of Planets, had no trading or territorial advantages and seemed pointless. They also recognized the fact that the Xenon were a very powerful race, having witnessed their long, drawn out and costly war between them and the Argon many years earlier. Once again the Paranid decided that, as neither side held an advantage, war was not for them. The Split wanted to continue the action and the two races argued. The Paranid then threatened to withdraw from the Profit Foundation unless the war ended. Faced by the dissolution of their trading partnership and therefore destruction of their economy the Split had no option but to declare peace with the Xenon.
This situation put a great strain on relations between the two races and for many years they were deeply suspicious of each other. The admission of the Teladi into the Profit Guild, in 563, helped to reduce this tension but, in 589, the initial refusal of the Split to join the Big Currency Reform once again strained the relationship. Once again, by threatening to withdraw for The profit Guild, the Paranid persuaded the Split to agree with the currency reform on re-negotiated terms.

The Paranid Today

Despite their many historic disagreements The Paranid are still allied to the Split and, through their membership of the Profit Guild, the Teladi. In addition to being members of the Profit Guild the Paranid allow all other races to trade openly throughout their sectors of space, however relations between the Paranid and the Argon are still very strained, and trade is the only contact the two races have with each other.
Even to this day their strange rites and religious beliefs are a mystery to other races and it is virtually impossible to befriend or even understand them ?except if you happen to have three eyes?
These rites also forbid any member of another race settling or living on a Paranid colony, not that many ever want to due to the fact that the Paranid prefer to settle on planets that are too hot for other races.

The Paranid Race

The Paranid are odd, and fierce looking. Their thick leathery skin is yellow and they have three large bony crests on the tops of their heads. They also have three eyes set in a deep furrow across their foreheads. Their mouth is similar to that of a fish with two fangs emerging from the either side. They also have a series of bone spines that grow from the backs of their heads and appear like twin tusks at the sides of their eyes and mouth.
Their bodies stand very tall, taller than any human. They are also very slim and bony, short of having an exoskeleton. Their appearance has reminiscences of insects, but on the other hand, they'er clearly no insects at all. Their arms have multiple joints, as well as their claws. Their legs are also multiply jointed and their feet are more like very broad hoofs that give the Paranid a very good grip on the ground.
They are very strong, and they will win a personal fight against anybody. Their preferred method of killing manually is wrapping their long, multiply jointed arms around their victim, crushing it to death. Nobody in the Community of Planets would pick a bare-handed fight with a Paranid.
Paranids do not have different genders, and not much is known about how they multiply at all. It is assumed that this is directly connected to the Pontifex Maximus Paranidia in some way.
Paranid behavior always tends to trying not to lose their face no matter in what situation. They always exaggerate their appearance, which sometimes borders on being ridiculous. This kind of behavior is meant to impress other Paranids, which works. It does not, however, work on members of other races.
Paranids regard every life-form that does not have 3 eyes or a multiple of 3 eyes as "unholy".
They are ruled by a strict hierarchical regime in which the entire race is controlled by the Pontifex Maximus Paranidia (a Priest Emperor) based on the home planet, whilst a lesser Priest King rules each different sector of space. A Priest Duke rules each Paranid space station. The current Pontifex Priest Emperor is called Xaar; he is also the topmost authority in all mathematical and religious questions. One of the most remembered Pontifex?of the past is Bashra, who is quoted with those noteworthy lines, regarded as a basic axiom of "being Paranid":
"Only he who has three eyes can fully grasp three-dimensionality.
Only he who fully grasps three-dimensionality can be holy."

The History of The Split

The Split home planet is situated on the far side of the Community of Planets. It is a small unfriendly planet, circled by six grey moons, and permanently shrouded in a poisonous gray mist. When evolution began on the planet the creatures that came to be known as the Split were not the highest form of evolutionary life form. However due to their aggressive, ignorant and extremely cruel nature, they soon developed primitive weapons and became the planets superior race simply by killing off every other living creature on their planet.
Once they achieved this dubious honour they turned their attention to attempting to organize themselves into some sort of crude civilization but, due to their aggressive behavior, this was not very successful and a state of civil war existed for many hundred of years. Eventually from this chaos Thuruk, a mighty war leader emerged who forced the Split into accepting a crude type of feudal government that was based upon a complex hierarchical structure, with himself as Emperor.
Under Emperor Thuruk and his successors the Split made great technological advances and eventually, after many abortive attempts, managed to develop a crude form of rocketry. These crude rockets enabled them to reach, and colonize their own moons some time around the year 100.
Long after Thuruk came Ghus, another leader of the Split who finally realized that the Split race could be so much more if they'er only curb their aggressiveness. Ghus invented the position of "Curb": a female Split appointed to important warriors and decision makers, to keep them from acting out their deadly impulses. This proved immensely successful and took the Split a huge step forward in their social evolution. Ghus reigned with a strong hand, but unusual fairness for a Split leader, for a long period; and no Emperor or Patriarch ever managed to fill out the footsteps this great Split had left behind when he was eventually killed. The time of Ghus was the high time of Split civilization ?so far.
The position of female Curb was dismantled officially soon after Ghus was killed. Unofficially, some families (e.g. Family Rhonkar) still use Curbs to the present day.
Some time around the year 200 the Split came across another race, the Paranid. At first contact the two races fought, but eventually both races realised that neither could defeat the other. A tense peace was declared which enabled both sides to enter into trade agreements and also form a crude military alliance. This agreement formed the foundations of the Profit Guild.
In 299 the Split first came across ships belonging to the Kingdom of Boron, and true to their nature, began destroying them. The Split then called upon their alliance with the Paranid and together, in an action later known as The Boron Campaign, the two forces chased the defenseless Boron back to their home planet, killing as they went.
In 350, as they were preparing their gigantic war fleet for a final assault on the Boron Home Planet, the Split and Paranid were suddenly attacked by the Argon war fleet.
This intervention of the Argon turned the tide. Their superior ships and technology soon began to tell and the Split and Paranids were forced back from territories of the Kingdom of Boron.
The Split retreated back into their own sector and continued trading and developing their technology, alongside their allies the Paranid. In the year 413, as an attempt to contract the Foundation Guild the Paranid and the Split officially formed the "Profit Guild".
In their explorations of deep space the Split have come into contact with the Xenon. At first the two races fought a small war, but when the Paranids threatened to end their alliance rather than join forces, the Split were forced to agree terms with the Xenon. Both races then went their separate ways.
The Split were the last race to agree with the Big Currency reform, of 589.

The Split Today

Today the Split still control large areas that used to be territories owned by The Kingdom of Boron. They continue to successfully trade within the Profit Foundation.
Whilst relationships between the Foundation Guild and The Profit Guild remain on the surface cordial, relationships between the Split and the other races are constantly degenerating and now border on the edge of war. This is due to both the natural aggression of the Split and their continued exploitation of the Markus Space Fly.
Despite being peaceful by nature The Boron are always eager to reclaim their lost territories back and await any opportunity to attack the split. The Argon are suspicious of the Split抯 supposed friendship with the Xenon. The Split and the Xenon tolerate each other. They have already had one slight war, but at the time as neither of them could see an easy victory or any territorial advantages they came to terms. However this treaty is very shaky and war is expected if their relationship deteriorates any further. The Split maintain a frosty friendship with the Paranids but will never forgive them for not joining with them in the fight against the Xenon.

The Split Race

The Spilt are humanoid in shape, and males average between 5ft -6ft tall. Split females are taller and more slim than males. They are a pale green/nicotine yellow in colour and have two piercing, bright blue eyes that stare out of a flat face. Their mouths are permanently turned down and they are never seen to smile (which is because their facial expressions in that respect are the opposite from that of humans). The Many males of the species all have a grey wispy beard on the end of what can be called their chins and grey tufts of hair on the top and sides of their heads.
Split are very powerful and strong fighters when it comes to personal combat. No human, Teladi or Boron could ever win against any Split ?no matter whether male or female. It is no good idea for a human even to try and pick a fight with a Split ?there'er no question that he will be killed! Only the Paranid are even stronger in personal combat.
The Split are probably the most unfriendly race in the entire Community of Planets. They are all born with a natural hatred of anything that lives and breaths. The only thing they respect is power backed up with superior weaponry.
The Split government has changed very little over the years. It is still based upon the complex feudal hierarchical structure developed by Emperor Thuruk although the actual position of Emperor was dissolved around 400, replaced by a number of different influential ruling family clans, that fight and via with each other to achieve power. Today the powerful Chin family controls the government, however the constant on-going family feuds indicate that they may not be around much longer.
Not long after the last Xenon Conflict, Chin has been killed by his wife and bondswoman Ghinn t'hht and Uchan t'cct, a former pilot in Chin's fleet. However, to Ghinn and Uchans surprise, the power was then taken over by Rhonkar. Rhonkar is now the new Patriarch of all Split.

The History of The Teladi

Originating from a planet known as Ianamus Zura, a planet covered by large swamps instead of continents, the early space-faring Teladi found the jumpgate at the border of their solar system and started founding colonies on the empty, habitable planets they discovered beyond the gate.
For reasons that remained unknown to the Teladi race until recent days, after hundreds of jazuras, the Ianamus Zura gate changed its destination, thereby cutting off some Teladian colonies from their home planet.
Only then it became prominently apparent, that Teladi hatching outside of Ianamus Zura would never breed male offspring; for some biological quirk, only eggs hatched on Ianamus Zura would hatch males.
Every Teladi hatched in the colonies would become female, and female they were. The Teladian colonies would have died out quickly, if it wasn't for the fact, that Teladian females are able to lay and hatch eggs even without male Teladi (scientifically, this is called parthenogenesis); the only catch being that the offspring would always be an almost identical clone to it's parent. (Of course, there are also some other ill effects like genetic defects amassing over generation after generation of clones).
Over time, the Teladi nearly forgot about "the other gender"; Ianamus Zura, however, stayed the archetypical dream shared by every Teladi throughout space and time.
After the separation from Ianamus Zura, it took the Teladian colonies several hundred jazuras to discover the other space faring species of the Community of Planets, which wasn't that shiny and new anymore by then. By that time, the Teladian females had turned into a greedy, embittered society of lizard-clones that resembled some sort of a huge, hierarchical structured company. The impact of the Teladi entering would change the Community of Planets forever.
Entering known space at this late period in the history of the Community of Planets was extremely fortunate for the Teladi. As a race they missed the conflict of both the Xenon Conflict and the Boron Campaign, and were able to enjoy the more or less stable conditions. They traded with whoever they came across and in 563, despite deputation's from the Foundation Guild, became members of the Profit Guild.
Great suspicion was put on this action by both the Argon and the Boron, But the main reason why the Teladi refused to join the foundation Guild was that it refused to enter into the Argon Mark currency, instead insisting on using its own native Teladi Buckzoid currency.
In 589 the Teladi, who had been hoarding the currencies of the various races, made a financial killing when the two guilds underwent the Big Currency Reform and the X Universe changed to the Credit currency.

The Teladi of the Community of Planets Today

Most of the races in the X Universe don't like the Teladi and refer to them as greedy and lazy. Sometimes they are even referred to as stupid, but that is only by races who have never traded with them. The Teladi drive some of the hardest bargains in the X Universe, and always come out of a situation with a profit. This is the reason why certain races have banned the Teladi from trading in their territories or sectors. Hence the Teladi are always on the look out for trading partners. It is believed that they finance many of the pirate operations that operate throughout the X Universe. Indeed many races think it is no coincidence that their ships have been captured and their high tech equipment looted by pirates after refusing to trade with the Teladi.
Their own technology tends to lag behind the rest of the occupants of the X Universe but, being Teladi, they would rather buy and trade what they need rather then spend their money in research and development. Hence the Teladi have access to all the high tech equipment, engines and weapon technology of almost all the other races.
Opening of the gate leading to their long-lost planet of origin, Ianamus Zura, put many Teladi in a state of agitation and confusion. Many decided to go on a pilgrimage to Ianamus Zura. But as many teladian females from the Community of Planet traveled to see Ianamus Zura, as many came back utterly disappointed?

The Teladi Race outside of Ianamus Zura

The Teladi look like large upright greenish or brownish lizards. They walk on their hind legs and from a distance look remotely humanoid. Size is that of a human child. Instead of hair they have a hard plating across the back of their heads. They also have a so-called "scale plate" on their forehead that changes color according to their state of agitation: it pales when afraid, and it darkens when angry.
On top of their heads, they have a limp ridge, that straightens/erects, when they are amused. They cannot laugh otherwise. (They can't cry either).
Teladi do not shake the head to say "no" or nod to say "yes." Instead, they move their (very tiny) ears back and forth or up and down. If uncomfortable, they tend to roll one of their ears between the fingers.
Teladi are amphibians; they can also live under water. They move almost gracefully in water, making use of the rudimentary web between their fingers/claws. Most Teladi live outside the water, though, especially the space faring ones.
The teladian body is covered with small six-angle-shaped plates that are tightly connected on young Teladi, but grow larger and less connected on older Teladi. Teladian eyes are large and yellow, but become orange and dark red over time. Instead of teeth, Teladi have a sort of chewing-bone. They have three hearts, which means they do not know such a thing as heart failure.
Noteworthy is also the paralysis that is known to immobilize Teladi frequently when really scared for their lives.
Confusing for humans is that Teladi light-switches, doorknobs, and similar things are always close to the floor. Teladi use their feet to switch on light, open doors, etc. They also prefer very hard banks to sleep on (stone, metal or very sturdy plastic) over beds. They do not sit on chairs; they cower on "sitting-banks", with their legs pulled up to their chins. This may look strange to humans.
Due to their racial history they have no idea of loyalty, honour, or individual ambition - the sole reason for their existence is to make a profit ?this, of course, holds true only for the female Teladi in the Community of Planets. The ancient teladian society on Ianamus Zura has evolved very differently from that. They also tend to avoid any form of trouble and would rather run than fight.
Today the Teladi Government is run and organized like a giant multi-national company, in which every member of the race is a shareholder and has the power to elect fellow citizens to the controlling board. The actual government acts more like a board of directors with the leader or chairman called the Ceo, who are voted into this position by the rest of the board members.

The History of The Xenon

Before Kyle-William Brennan's arrival in the Community of Planets, very little is was known about the Xenon race. There was no recorded history of them, of who they were, or from where they originated.
There were many different theories of who the Xenon are. One claimed that they are a highly developed lizard like species who evolved on a hot, volcanic plant. Another theory claimed that they are the mutated survivors of some great war fought eons ago. The Split believe that the Xenon are not living creatures at all, but are actually military robots. However, as no race in the X Universe has the technological capabilities of creating such advanced machines, this latter theory tended to be discounted, until Cpt. Brennan demonstrated it to be true. Later, it became known that the races?secret service organizations knew of the Xenon being machines for more than two dekazuras before Brennan's arrival.
What is known is that their presence was first discovered around the year 200 (old time system) by the Split who discovered the outer reaches of a Xenon space sector. Despite attempts by the Split to make contact, with a hope to trade, the Xenon blew their ships apart at first sight. The Split then declared war with the Xenon and a few small battles were fought in which the Split ships were totally destroyed. The Split attempted to recruit the Paranid to their aid, but the Paranid refused and the Split had no option but to brake off their war. No peace treaty was ever signed between the Xenon, the Split simply withdrew from the Xenon sector and left them well alone. From that date other races began to file reports of sightings of unknown ships that were believed to be Xenon.
Between 160 and 210 a number of Argon ships were attacked and destroyed along the outer limits of the Argon territories, Xenon ships were suspected. The first definite confirmation was established in 214 when an Argon ship survived an attack and made a full report to the authorities.
In 225 the Xenon attacked and totally destroyed an Argon Space station, killing thousands of inhabitants. The Argon had no choice but to declare an immediate war, which became known as the "Xenon Conflict".
The Xenon were victorious in the first engagements and the Argon looked to the Paranid to form an alliance. The Paranid deliberated for a number of years but finally, in 230, they formally refused to join the alliance, leaving Argon to fight the Xenon alone.
The Xenon Conflict was a bloody and costly conflict. At first the Xenon forced pushed deep into Argon territory, destroying space stations and colonies as they went. However, around 290 the Argon began using a more daring style of attack and won a number of major battles. Using the same successful tactics the Argon eventually forced the Xenon out of their territory. In 290 the Xenon finally retreated deep within their own sector, since when only vague reports and sightings have been made.
In 589, when all races gathered to negotiate the creation of the Big Currency Reform, the Xenon were invited to participate, but they made no attempt to join in the negotiations.

The Xenon Today

Today throughout the Community of Planets there is no contact between the Xenon and any other race; as an exception to this, they are known to submit messages to the Split on very rare occasions. The reason for this is unknown. The Xenon are not allied to any trading organization, or to either of the Guilds. The do not use the Credit, nor is it known what currency they use. They appear to have no interest in the trade of any other race.
Xenon are very aggressive, their only directive is the policy - "If it moves shoot it". Their ships are fast, well protected and heavily armed, and their engines give off a distinctive blue after-glow.
A special undercover department based at the Argon Federation Space Academy on Argon Prime, has researched the Xenon for many years and are currently engaged in cross referencing and documenting all positive Xenon ship sightings.

The Xenon Race

After Brennan's arrival in the Community of Planets, it became widely known what nature the Xenon really are. Originally, they were the Terraformer fleet, sent out by Earth many centuries ago, to make planets habitable for human population. Originally, the Terraformer were tool-level AI's ?artificial intelligences, highly intelligent problem-solving robots, capable of self-reproduction, but without self-motivation. They were mere tools.
This changed, when in Earth year 2115 a sloppily executed maintenance update introduced errors in the Terraformer fleet. These errors propagated slowly, but steadily throughout all the Terraformers, and eventually gave them the capability of self-motivation ?and self-modification! This alone would already have been problematical, although not necessarily disastrous ?but another error in the maintenance update caused the Terraformer to start confuse their internal (problem-solving) simulations with external reality. The consequence was what came to be known on Earth as the Terraformer War, devastating Earth and most human Colonies in space.
In the Community of Planets, the Terraformer slowly emerged as Xenon ?a deadly, impenetrable threat that built up over the dekazuras, until it engaged the whole Community in a final fight that was won over because Cpt. Brennan and the X-Shuttle were at the right place at the right time?
The remaining Terraformer, led by two so-called CPU-Ships  are now retreating to the sectors beyond Menelaus?Paradise; the Boron refused to take the chance and wipe them out completely because of ethical reasons.
Although being nearly identical with unit, only unit is on the edge of becoming self-conscious?

除了BORON和TELADI,ARGON似乎在历史上跟PARANID(见死不救)、SPLIT(抗美援朝中的美国)都有仇啊,回头一定帮ARGON出气去 。。尤其是SPLIT:lol
