This mod is intended to make a somewhat faster-paced, though still epic-scale game of Space Empires V while addressing some of the balance issues that I have found in the weapons, facilities, and the tech tree. Through the use of the principles of miniaturization (i.e. the higher the tech level, the smaller the component/facility) and durability (the higher the tech level, the stronger the component/facility), and balancing, this mod attempts to introduce a new feel to the game and give a somewhat faster pace to the timing. Research starts out a little slower, but has a much higher potential to build up, usage of minerals, organics, and radioactives is somewhat reduced in many areas and much more balanced in general (i.e. most things don't just use minerals any more, but a more balanced mix of resources). Requires Multimedia Pack.

Gid Mod v4.9.1b
This mod started as an effort to have the space ships use for engines be variable by ship size. Over time, it has grown to incorporate balance tweaks, new shield types, research tweaks, and serious overhauls to AI ship design creation, ship construction, and unit construction. This version includes some MAJOR gameplay changes, particularly the fact that Crystallurgy and Organic Manipulation tech races now use Radiactives and Organics respectivly as their primary resource.
Additionally, the AI has been modified to take these changes in to account, and to be more efficient in colonizing when it is low on resources.
Also, defending against intel attacks is no longer a sure bet, as there is a minimum and maximum success rate and an empire's defenses are slightly reduced based on several internal factors.

Inter-relations Mod v0.99b3
This conversion mod aim to improve the original concept of Space Empire. Each weapons are now unique, and several new components for ships have been added. Also, armor and shields work differently. All armor negate some damage now, but most weapons can penetrate armor if they are powerful enough (the damage negation prevent this). Armor also take less damage to itself than internals. Internal structure improve with armor level, no matter the level of the device.
Special weapons have been improved so they are more useful, even and mostly in end-game. Of course, all this would be meaningless if the weapons worked the same way they do in the stock game. Weapon scale differently depending on their class and use, and large anti-ship weapons cannot aim at small units or seekers. There is a lot more to think about when designing ships with this mod. Units have also been balanced the same way as ships, in the same spirit as the rest of the mod.
On the planet front, structures have different tonnage, the more powerful tend to take more space than the more basic ones. They too have more structure points with each armor level. Some structure are weaker than their tonnage so they are more likely to be destroyed in combat. Speaking of which, planets are harder to kill in this mod, using bombardment tools might be a wiser choice. Supply and ordnance production have been improved, as well as planet's capacity for stock piling them. Keeping your ships supplied won't be a problem unless you have a large fleet fighting far from home.

Romulus's Government, Social, and Racial Doctrines ++
This mod revamps the governments and makes some balance changes to the racial traits. The proposed changes will bring a MUCH larger dynamic to the game as you must be cautious as to what races you invite into your empire. You have to contend with your Tyrannical ways. You must submit to the collective way of things. You must put your Queen first in all things, etc, etc. The premise behind the Government changes is to make the people stand up and be heard! The mod gives every race but Oligarchy equal pluses and minuses. The standard deviation is that each Government with have +50 and -50 in advantages and disadvantages. This way each type is equal in the positives and the negatives. The Racial traits needed a little balancing plus tweaking a few things here and there.

SE5 Junkyard Wars 0.04 ++
This mod is based off Captain Kwok's Balance Mod. The biggest change from Balance Mod was to mod out research and intel. To get new tech levels you must now colonize planets with ruins. All planets should give at least one random tech level, and some planets may up to four tech levels. There are also the few unique tech areas.
Other small changes to the Balance Mod include a 5kt thin armor and smaller 10kt engines. This allows a bit more flexibility in ship speed and for filling up that last 5kt with armor. The smaller engines use slightly more supply per hex than the larger ones, and they are a tiny bit more expensive.

SE5 Null Interface Sounds
This little "mod" replaces most of the beeps and bops of the interface sounds with 1 ms of silence. Sounds like a window opening/closing, button presses, etc., that probably should never have existed in the first place, are dead. Hurrah!
To install the sounds, extract this file into your SE5Sounds directory, choosing yes to overwrite.
Stock sounds backup provided for easy restoring of stock sounds.

Space Empires V LITE v1.06
Many new players expressed concerns over the complexity of SEV and this made it somewhat unaccessible for new players. This Mod is a stripped down version with a more streamlined ''Technology Tree'' while still maintaining the Galactic 4X feel. This mod builds off the Balance Mod with has strong roots to the stock game.
If you are new the game or the genre this will help you get the basics without overwhelming you. Play this version until you feel comfortable with the game, then move on to the more complicated mods. Also, this is a great mod for casual quick play!
