Is there anything good about taking revenge?

Bring up revenge, and most people get upset and speak in platitudes. I'd like to know: What's wrong with revenge?

i personly did take revenges on ppl... but dont feel good about it after doing it

but still... they shouldnt not offended me at the first place
it would give them a lesson

For the majority, taking revenge won't change what had already happened, and people won't feel any better after taking revenge, therefore it is not good and meaningless. However, to some people, taking revenge can relieve them, or can use to show that they're strong and prevent further incidents, therefore it is good for them.
